is a pretty faithful adaptation with lots of

Warheads for Windows (Steadle, Eric; $17) is
an excellent version of the arcade classic
Missile Command. Your job is to protect your
cities from an unending onslaught of
incoming missiles. Watch out for the dreaded
Bomber, which appears from nowhere to pepper
the skies with deadly Smart Bombs. The
graphics and playability are very good. On
two different test systems, when we first
started the game, it ran very slowly. We
restarted Windows and the game, and it ran
at a more normal speed.

Carl; $15-$30) is an amusing and challenging
maze game. Your mission is to collect as
many flowers as you can without letting any
of the rocks fall on your head. If a rock
hits you, then you die and have to repeat
the level. There are a total of six levels,
and you will have to die many times before
you figure them all out.

on their graphic user interface, and they
are not at all happy about it. Their
smiley-faced computers hurl exploding mice

Your only weapon is an infinite supply of
rotten apple cores which you hurl defiantly
at the corporate Goliaths. Can you beat the
Empire and give computer users freedom of
choice? (In case our description was too
subtle for you: this is a Space Invaders
game with an anti-Apple Corp. bias.)

Prairie Dog Hunt 1.0 for Windows (Diversions
Software; $15) is based on the cutesy arcade
game where you bean helpless prairie dogs
with a hammer as they emerge from their
holes. However, in this game you have a
choice of high-powered firearms and get to
blast the furry little pests into a bloody
stain. The impressive 256-color animated
graphics and digitized sound effects make
the massacre all the more enjoyable. You can
control the number of dogs, and how many
rounds of ammo you get. Watch out for the
occasional rabid rodent, because if you get
bitten five times you will die of rabies.

excellent air hockey game for Windows 3.1.
It allows you to play on a 3-D table against
a computerized opponent with adjustable
speed and aggressiveness. You may also
customize screen colors and the overhead
view angle. A 386 or better CPU is required.

EmPipe 1.01E (Emura, Yutaka; $10) is a
pipe-laying type game. You must select
sections of pipe to direct the flow of
liquid from the starting point to the ending
point. The mouse cursor will change into the
next available pipe shape to speed play
along. Other features include music, sound
effects, high score listing, and more.

Zanti! 1.2d (Sheaffer, Patrick; $5) is an
exciting multi-media arcade game. You must
guide the Zanti aliens into the hands of
Earth's military. This is accomplished by
connecting pieces of a tunnel from the
invader's ship to an ending piece. If you
have played any of the Pipe Dream type
games, you'll understand how this works.
There are great 256-color graphics and
digitized WAV files to add to the enjoyment
of the game.

WOWSpill (World of Windows Software ASP;
$15) is an arcade strategy game where you
must connect random pieces of pipe from a
water faucet to a drain. Extra points are
awarded for using the bonus pieces and for
creating intersections. There are three
different board sizes available, each with
its own high score board. This is a
fast-paced, non-violent "thinking" game
suitable for the whole family. Requires VGA
and 1 meg of free disk space.

Windows version of the classic Snake type
game. You wander the screen as a hungry
worm, devouring cute little kittens and
avoiding all obstacles (including your own
ever-lengthening tail). Each time you ingest
a feline holes appear in your tail,
providing additional escape routes.

Paulie Python 1.0 (Way Out West-ware;
$5-$15) is an exciting Windows variation of
the old "snake" game. Your job is to slither
around the eight imaginative mazes devouring
all the mice and avoiding walls. To make
things more difficult, your tail grows after
you eat a mouse and other surprise obstacles
are scattered about.

fast-paced game in which you must kill
snakes without letting them kill you. You
can't "win" this game. When you kill a
snake, another snake takes its place. Play

15mhz, we got it to run at a reasonable

shoot-everything-that-moves space adventure.
As a StarPilot, you must defend the Quatra
Sector from the enemy mutants by using
high-tech weapons. Three levels are
available in this version. Digital music and

is recommended, and 5 Meg Ram and 256-color

Second Conflict for Windows (Galloway, Jerry
W.; $0) the leader of the Empire has died
without an heir, leaving the Galaxy in utter
chaos. You are in command of one fleet and
one solar system, and up to four people can
play this incredible game of galactic
supremacy. You must use scouts to
investigate nearby star systems and decide
which ones are worth colonizing and which
are worth fighting for. You can also look at
what opponents are building to determine the
size of your attack fleet, and build
transports to move troops and colonists to
other star systems. Although the author
refers to this as a "demo" version, it
contains more than enough features to keep
any gamer's interest. The graphics and
playability are excellent, and help and
strategy hints are always available. 640K
and at least an EGA monitor are required.

is an action-packed space combat simulation.
You are the tail-turret gunner of a
futuristic spaceship, and must fight off
hundreds of hostile ships as you try to
escape enemy territory. Plasma cannons and
pulse lasers are your main weapons, and an
optional lock-shoot indicator helps you blow
the bad guys out of the sky. Other features
include 256-color graphics, WAV sound
support, and more. Requires VBRUN300.
